Welcome to Sedalia! Sedalia, Colorado, is an unincorporated ranchers´ community located alongside Highway 85 (Santa Fe Drive) in Douglas County. The community, which is located just north of Castle Rock, has an estimated population of only 3,745. Sedalia has maintained its charm and bedroom-community lifestyle while the nearby areas of Castle Pines Village, Castle Pines North and Daniels Park have been heavily developed.

In Sedalia, beautifully appointed three-bedroom homes sell for around $300,000 while four and five bedroom custom-built homes sell for over $1,000,000. While ranch and chalet-styled homes are popular in Sedalia, there are also a number of newly built homes.

Sedalia´s real estate is scattered throughout the area but there are concentrated subdivisions including Bear Canyon Ranch, Bellum Pines, Christy Ridge, Coyote Ridge, Dawson Butte, Elk Ridge Estates, Horseshoe Ranch, Indian Creek Ranch, Lambert Ranch, Perry Park, Rock Estates, Taylor Ridge, and Westcreek Lakes. While much of Sedalia´s land is zoned for agriculture (primarily for cattle, buffalo and/or horses), many of the area´s residents are not ranchers but simply enjoy the quiet lifestyle.

There are a number of well-preserved buildings, historic homes, quaint restaurants and unique craft shops within walking distance of the town´s heart — the old rail line. One of Sedalia´s most notable structures is Cherokee Ranch, a Scottish-style 10,000 square-foot castle that towers on a knoll just above the community. Cherokee Ranch, a working cattle ranch that encompasses more than 3,000 acres, is home to a number of collections from around the world. Many of the ranch´s famed works include both fifteenth-and sixteenth-century European paintings as well as original drawings by Sir Christopher Wren, the well-recognized architect of St. Paul´s Cathedral located in London.

Sedalia has wide-open spaces and spectacular views of the Front Range from Pikes Peak to Longs Peak. The community is also home to many of Colorado´s wildlife including red-tailed hawks, golden eagles, huge herds of elk, mule deer, fox, coyote, ranch buffalo, llamas, goslings, black beer, and, yes, mountain lions.
