Hardships

You are in default (foreclosure) the first day your payment is late.  There is a grace period, usually 15 days.  You are in default on day one, the first day you are late.  The lender will not foreclose, but this is the technical definition.

Hardships a lender will consider:

Loss of Job
Business Failure
Damage to Property
Death of a Spouse
Death of Family Members
Severe Illness
Inheritance
Divorce
Mandatory Job Relocation
Medical Bills
Military Service
Payment Increase or Mortgage Increase
Insurance or Tax Increase
Reduced Income
Separation
Too much debt
Incarceration
