Colorado Cities Ranked Among “Best Places for Business and Careers”

Looking for some good news in this economy? Colorado continues to be a great place to do business. Forbes’ recently released its “Best Places for Business and Careers,” and it gives Colorado cities high marks. Five Colorado cities ranked among the top 40 of the largest 200 cities (with a population of more than 241,000). Cities were evaluated on 11 criterion, including the cost of doing business, the cost of living, job-growth trends, crime rates and cultural attributes.

High-ranking Colorado cities included Fort Collins (2nd), Colorado Springs (10th), Denver (14th), Boulder (20th) and Greely (37th). Denver fared particularly well in the categories of “number of colleges” (15th), “educational attainment” (20th) and “culture and leisure” (21st).

This is great news for Colorado, since a strong business foundation is crucial to a quick recovery in the Denver real estate market.  While current economic conditions aren’t pretty in Denver, it has fared remarkably well in the midst of the national economic downturn. Because of the recession’s late impact on Denver, and its diverse industry base, many economists are projecting Denver to bounce back from the recession quicker than many other cities.
